Methodology of value added

2.138 Basically, GDP derives from the concept of value added. Gross value added is the difference between output and intermediate consumption.

15.133 The gross value added of an establishment, enterprise, industry or sector is measured by the amount by which the value of the outputs produced by that establishment, enterprise, industry or sector exceeds the value of the intermediate inputs consumed.
